Our Story
Supreme Automotive was born from a simple idea: what if you could get main dealer-level expertise without the main dealer price tag or impersonal service?
After spending years working at Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Land Rover main dealerships, Ian and John saw the same problems over and over: rushed jobs, flat-rate pressure, upselling quotas, and customers being treated like numbers instead of people.
We wanted to do things differently.
We wanted to combine the technical expertise and diagnostic equipment of a main dealership with the personal service and honest advice of an independent garage. Somewhere you could speak directly to the technician working on your car. Somewhere that treated your vehicle like it was their own.
And that’s exactly what Supreme Automotive is.
We’re not trying to be the biggest garage in Telford, we’re trying to be the best. We work on vehicles we’re passionate about (Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Seat, Cupra), we use proper diagnostic equipment, and we give honest advice.
We’re also committed to giving back — working with the local college to train apprentices and give young people a proper start in the automotive trade, just like we had.

IAN
Master Technician & Volkswagen Enthusiast
From a young boy, I always knew I’d do something with vehicles in one form or another.
My journey started at a famous motorsport company in Shropshire, and from there I qualified as a Level 3 vehicle technician before going on to gain my Master Technician qualification.
I have 21 years of experience working in main dealerships including Nissan, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Ford.
I’m not only a Level 3 technician — I’m a fully qualified EV diagnostic specialist and auto electrician for BMW, Volkswagen, Volvo, and Nissan. So rest assured that your vehicles are in safe hands at Supreme Automotive.
I’ve been a Volkswagen enthusiast since I was lucky enough to own my first VW T4 van at the age of 24. It started out as an MTB van and then I converted it into a camper for family getaways. It really gave me the bug for the VW scene. I’ve fully converted 3 vans myself to suit my family’s needs as we’ve grown.
My wife, son, and I enjoy weekends away in our van with our 2 dogs. I also spend my spare time on my downhill mountain bike.
Things you might not know about me:
- I taught myself how to play the guitar
- I was a banger racer for many years
- I have a big passion for motorbikes, especially sports bikes
- I’ve run half and full marathons, and done triathlon sprints
Ian’s Approach:

John
Level 3 Diagnostic Specialist & VAG Expert
I have always been mad about cars and vans, especially Volkswagens.
I first started working in the trade in 2006 at a family-run Volkswagen dealer, one of the oldest in the country, where I learned my craft, becoming a fully qualified Level 3 diagnostic technician, specialising in transmissions and then hybrid electric vehicles as they came to market.
After spending 8 years there, I moved to another Volkswagen main dealer where I worked for another 7 years, gaining specialist training in all-electric vehicles.
Since then I’ve worked for Porsche (Level 3 and HVIT qualified), Land Rover, and gained experience as a vehicle electrical specialist. This breadth of experience across premium brands means I understand these vehicles inside out.
I’m passionate about keeping vehicles running properly and diagnosing issues that other garages can’t figure out. There’s nothing more satisfying than solving a complex electrical or diagnostic problem that’s been driving someone mad for months.
When I’m not under a bonnet, I’m obsessed with mountain biking. Pretty much every weekend I’m out hitting some of Shropshire or Wales’s finest downhill trails. There’s no feeling like driving to the mountains at the crack of dawn with the bikes in the back and tunes blazing.
Things you might not know about me:
- I play the guitar
- I’m qualified as a domestic and industrial electrician, as well as fitting solar PV panels
- I’m big into sports — running, biking, and swimming. I’ve done 2 half Ironman triathlons and ran the London Marathon twice
- I’ve cycled across the UK in one day
- I have a classic Volkswagen Polo that I’ve been restoring in my spare time
- I love a good curry and a real ale
- AC/DC and Metallica are my favourite bands (and I’m partial to a bit of drum & bass too)
John’s Approach:
“I’m passionate about European vehicles. I’ve worked on thousands of VWs, Audis, and Porsches. The knowledge you get from years at main dealers — you can’t learn that overnight.”
Training the Next Generation
We’re proud to work with the local college to give apprentices a chance in life.
Ian and John both came up through apprenticeships themselves at main dealerships. Now we’re passing on that knowledge to the next generation of technicians.
What this means:
- We provide real-world workshop experience to local apprentices
- Young people get hands-on training with modern diagnostic equipment
- They learn proper repair techniques from Master Technicians
- We help them build careers in the automotive industry

Not everyone gets a fair start in life. Apprenticeships give young people practical skills, stable careers, and a sense of pride in their work. We’re committed to helping local young people develop into skilled, qualified technicians — just like we were given the opportunity years ago.
